Jeff Phillips concentrates his practice on complex litigation. He focuses on the defense of energy companies in issues such as deliberate intent, personal injury, and MSHA regulations. He has tried 45 cases to verdict in federal and state courts and has been involved in appellate proceedings before state and federal courts. He is the Managing Member of the firm’s Lexington, Kentucky, office.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

  • Represented energy companies in wrongful death lawsuits
  • Defended a contract miner in a fatality investigation by MSHA/West Virginia Office of Miners Health, Safety & Training 
  • Represented a coal company charged with more than $1million in MSHA fines 
  • Defended a coal miner in a decertification proceeding arising from a double fatality
  • Represented coal companies in contract disputes
