Jonathan Ellis focuses his practice in the areas of mine safety and health law, deliberate intent and premises liability litigation, and environmental law.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

  • Represented coal mine operator in contest of “flagrant” violations assessed by MSHA at over $1.1 million
  • Defended continuous miner operator and outby foreman in decertification actions before the West Virginia Coal Mine Safety Board of Appeals
  • Defended mine superintendent in a 110(c) action instituted by MSHA
  • Defended coal mine operators in deliberate intent and premises liability lawsuits
  • Counseled client during a joint investigation by MSHA and the WVOMHS&T of an underground mining fatality
