Nancy M. Lashnits focuses her practice in the areas of nonprofit organizations, Federal tax, and public finance. Her practice includes representation of state and local governments, nonprofit organizations, and other private borrowers in various types of financings, as well as providing counsel to clients on federal tax issues related to such financings. Ms. Lashnits has practiced public finance and tax law as a partner in regional and national law firms and at the IRS for more than 25 years. 

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

  • Represented diverse clients as bond counsel, special tax counsel, borrower’s counsel in a wide variety of sophisticated bond transactions for many years
  • Represented clients in reformulating the arbitrage and rebate regulations and regulations dealing with the reissuance of debt obligations
  • Significantly involved in private activity bond regulations
  • Acted as tax counsel in many types of governmental bonds (university, city and state), private activity bonds (higher education, housing, solid waste, clean water, healthcare and other 501(c)(3) bonds, small issue manufacturing bonds).
  • Represented clients in the newer tax credit bond program (clean renewable energy bonds, qualified energy conservation bonds, qualified zone academy bonds, and qualified school construction bonds and each as specified tax credit bonds eligible for the direct subsidy), and the Build America Bond program.
