Martinsburg, WV City Description

Martinsburg is located in West Virginia’s eastern panhandle. Steptoe & Johnson's Martinsburg office is located in the center of this rapidly developing area. Martinsburg serves as the seat of Berkeley County.

Since 1970, the population of West Virginia's eastern panhandle has increased more rapidly than any other region in the State. With its proximity to the Washington and Baltimore metropolitan areas, this area expects continued growth and development.  This favorable location has attracted both residential and industrial development to a once quiet, rural area. However, despite its expansion, the area offers one of the finest lifestyles in the State. Located at the northern end of the Shenandoah Valley, the area is rich in history from both the American Revolution and the Civil War.

The eastern panhandle is renowned worldwide for its bountiful crops of apples and peaches. Recent housing projects have combined both the agricultural and suburban lifestyles, maintaining much of the natural beauty of the orchards and the farmland. In addition, the area is graced with many older homes, which date from the early days of our nation.

The Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers offer abundant opportunities for canoeing and fishing. Public and private golfing, tennis, and swimming facilities are located in both Martinsburg and Charles Town, and the Cacapon State Park is in nearby Berkeley Springs. The scenic Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway are both within one hour of the area.
