Who we are
Contractors Association of West Virginia
The CAWV is the state chapter of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America and the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). Founded in 1923, the association serves contractors who perform commercial building, utility, industrial, highway and heavy construction throughout the state of West Virginia. The CAWV represents nearly 500 construction-industry businesses.
Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America
Founded in 1918, the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America represents more than 35,000 firms associated with the construction industry. AGC’s focus is on growing construction markets, reducing regulatory burdens, shaping emerging industry issues and trends and honing contractors’ business practices from the office to the job trailer. The national association works through a network of 96 chapters that serve each member firm, AGC has presence in every state and local community, ultimately binding the seamless relationship between members and their association. AGC offers many products and services to association members.
American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA)
ARTBA was established in 1902 as a national transportation construction-related association with a focus on the need for a federally-built network of Interstate highways. Headquartered today in Washington, D.C., just blocks from the White House, ARTBA's mission is simple: We are a federation whose primary goal is to aggressively grow and protect transportation infrastructure investment to meet the public and business demand for safe and efficient travel. In support of this mission, ARTBA also provides programs and services designed to give its 5,000+ public and private sector members a global competitive edge.
What we do
AGC and ARTBA work on a national level to affect legislation that will have a positive impact on the nation’s construction industry. The CAWV does the same on the state level. Whether by ensuring the appropriateness of government regulations, increasing or maintaining funding levels, or building relationships with federal contracting agencies, the associations’ work is focused on establishing and maintaining a healthy construction industry.
