RUTH SHEFF is a litigation paralegal with Steptoe & Johnson PLLC, with more than 30 years of experience in the legal profession. She assists in the firms litigation and business departments, where her areas of concentration in the firm include litigation (plaintiff and defense); interviewing and locating witnesses; obtaining written and oral statements; summarizing depositions and other documents; preparing discovery requests and responses; obtaining and analyzing bank, employment/personnel, medical and insurance records; witness investigations; trial preparation, including preparation of exhibits and jury research; preparing and assisting with preparation of pleadings; conducting lien and UCC searches; and registering foreign judgments. Ms. Sheff earned her degree in legal studies from West Virginia State College and attended Marshall University's Paralegal Program. She is the program director and volunteer for Kanawha County CASA Inc., a court appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children in Kanawha County, and the secretary/treasurer of the board of West Virginia CASA.
