The event will feature both live and silent auctions, as well as a separate Bid for a Cure auction with the proceeds going directly to The Cancer Center at OVMC. The top live auction items include a trip to New York City for six people on a private jet to Teterboro Airport with a limousine chauffeur for the day, and a separate auction package that includes box seats for six at the Kentucky Derby along with hats.
Additionally, a silent auction, organized by Kelly Bettem and Elisabeth Slater of the gala committee, will take place throughout the evening. The auction will feature a wide variety of items and will afford gala attendees a chance to do some unique holiday shopping.
As this is the first year for the gala at Oglebay, the resort's chefs have created a signature menu for the gala which consists of a choice among wood-fired sirloin with smoked tomato and wild mushroom demi-glaze or pan-seard halibut with citrus chutney. . A vegetarian meal of eggplant parmesan is also available. All meals are served with a autumn-inspired Roman chopped salad and gourmet sides of sauteed broccoli, rosemary potatoes, and a spiced ginger torte. This year, the committee is introducing a gourmet cookie and coffee bar available for after-dinner dessert, which is sponsored by The Monteverde Group and coordinated by Kathy DePasquale of the Carnation Twig.
Providing the entertainment for the evening is the Juan Jaramillo String Quartet and Easy Street band of Wheeling. The quartet will play music selections during cocktail hour and dinner while Easy Street will play music for dancing after dinner.
