EPA Publishes Data on Industrial and Toxic Releases

Like staying current? Never miss a beat!

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced on July 28, 2010 that as part of the Obama Administration's continuing commitment to open government, it has "published the latest data on industrial releases and transfers of toxic chemicals in the United States between January 1 and December 31, 2009."

The EPA is making the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) data available within weeks of reporting deadlines as the stated goal of the TRI is to "provide communities with information about toxic chemical releases and waste management activities and to support informed decision making at all levels by industry, government, non-governmental organizations, and the public."

Reported information from the TRI database can be found at www.epa.gov/tri by entering a zip code of interest.
