Steptoe & Johnson attorney to serve through 2013
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Steptoe & Johnson PLLC attorney James Wright has been sworn in as President of the West Virginia State Bar. Wright succeeds Gary Nickerson, also of Steptoe & Johnson, who served from 2011-2012. This marks the first time in the State Bar’s history that two attorneys from the same firm will consecutively serve as president.
“The State Bar relies on its attorney leaders to help keep it moving forward,” said Steptoe & Johnson CEO Susan Brewer. “I am confident that Jim will work to keep the State Bar on a path toward continued growth, and look forward to seeing his vision for the organization unfold.”
Wright concentrates his legal practice in complex and commercial litigation in the areas of energy and construction law from the firm's Wheeling, W.Va. office. A graduate of Lock Haven University (B.S.) and West Virginia University (J.D.), Wright joined Steptoe & Johnson 1997. Before his election to president, Wright served as a member of the WV State Bar Board of Governors and as its vice president. Wright’s term runs through April 2013.
“This is a great honor for me,” said Wright. “I am anxious to work with the State Bar Board of Governors to help continue the success of the organization.”
