LOCAL ENERGY LAW GROUP JOINS REGIONAL POWERHOUSE
STEPTOE & JOHNSON EXPANDS ENERGY PRACTICE
New Meadville Office in the Heart of Pennsylvania Marcellus Shale
CLARKSBURG, WV -- The energy practice group of Culbertson, Weiss, Schetroma and Schug, P.C. will join the regional firm of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC. On September 1, CWS&S shareholders Russell L. Schetroma, David L. Hotchkiss, Glenn A. W. Thompson, and Alan R. Shaddinger will affiliate with Steptoe & Johnson. They will be joined by attorneys Brian J. Pulito, Nathaniel I. Holland, Mathew L. Sampson, Marygrace L. Reese, W. Mark Reese, Megan A. Mariani, and Zahava A. Cheropovich. Steptoe & Johnson will continue to operate CWS&S?s Chestnut Street office in Meadville, PA from which it will facilitate the provision of legal services to its regional Appalachian clients. Meadville is Steptoe & Johnson?s first Pennsylvania office. Steptoe & Johnson also has offices in West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky. The firm plans to open a second Pennsylvania office in Southpointe (Canonsburg) in the fall.
With the addition of Culbertson, Weiss, Schetroma and Schug?s energy practice group, the rapidly growing Steptoe & Johnson Energy Team will field approximately 190 attorneys and paraprofessionals who provide legal services to Appalachian energy industry clients throughout the nation. Steptoe & Johnson?s energy group in the Appalachian region focuses on services to the energy sector including coal, oil and gas and renewables. Its attorneys regularly assist clients throughout the region with acquisitions and divestitures, financing, due diligence reviews, permitting, title evaluation, litigation, public utility law, FERC regulatory matters, mediation and arbitration, land use challenges, and midstream legal issues.

CWS&S was founded in 1972 by Stuart A. Culbertson, E. Max Weiss and Russell L. Schetroma. E. Max Weiss will continue his individual practice as general counsel to the Meadville Medical Center and as a litigator and mediator with offices for the practice of law at 911 Diamond Park, Meadville, Pa., where he has been located since 1974.
Dearald W. (Bud) Shuffstall, II will continue his practice, initially utilizing the firm?s Titusville offices, in which he will be joined by Bruce L. Smith, Robert J. Felton and Christopher Junker.
Carol J. Powell, the firm?s current administrative coordinator, will assume a management position with Steptoe & Johnson.
