CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Steptoe & Johnson PLLC attorney Sharon O. Flanery has been named a vice chair of the Institute for Energy Law (IEL) Advisory Board. As a vice chair, she will also serve as a member of the IEL Executive Committee. Advisory board representatives are appointed by IEL members.

Flanery joined Steptoe & Johnson in 2004 and leads its Energy and Natural Resources Department. Her legal practice focuses on acquisitions and divestitures, mineral leases, joint ventures, contract mining agreements, joint operating agreements, and sales and marketing agreements, as well as gathering, transportation, and processing agreements. Flanery is named among The Best Lawyers in America® and is a Best Lawyers Lawyer of the Year for the Charleston, W.Va. metropolitan area. She has also been recognized as a Woman of Achievement by the Charleston YWCA.
Flanery earned her law degree from Duquesne University and her Bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University.
