Event to focus on solutions to shale development challenges
DENVER – Steptoe & Johnson PLLC will host its Energy Leadership Summit in Denver on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at The Oxford Hotel. The Summit unites U.S. shale industry leaders for a briefing on issues and solutions to current and future challenges.
More than two dozen Steptoe & Johnson energy attorneys from Colorado, Texas, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia will address attendees and lead roundtable discussions during the one-day Summit.
Among the topics:
- Legal trends in shale gas development
- Environmental and enforcement issues
- Pooling and unitization
- Avoiding litigation
- Structuring deals and energy transactions
- What’s on the horizon
The Summit is based on the results of a year-long study commissioned by Steptoe & Johnson to find the greatest legal challenges facing energy producers. The study, Below the Surface, found that most legal disputes involve conflicts with landowners, title issues, leases, and contracts. Plus, the average shale developer’s annual spend for litigation often tops three million dollars.
This program has been approved for 6.5 hours of continuing legal education in Pennsylvania. Approvals for credits in other states, and through the American Association of Professional Landmen, are pending.
