Steptoe & Johnson PLLC attorney Michelle A. Sottiaux has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Commission’s Investigative Division. The Commission is responsible for evaluating candidates seeking judicial office in Pennsylvania and making its findings known to the public to help voters make informed decisions at the ballot box. Sottiaux will serve on the Commission through the 2015 judicial election.
Sottiaux joined Steptoe & Johnson in 2011. She practices energy and natural resources law in the firm’s Meadville, Pa. office where she specializes in mineral title examinations and opinions, due diligence, and curative work.
Sottiaux has been an active member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association prior to her appointment to the Commission. She currently serves on its Energy and Environmental Law Section and on the Shale Law Committee. Sottiaux earned her law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Members of the Judicial Evaluation Commission’s Investigative Division interview and investigate each candidate running for a judicial appellate seat. For 2015, the Commission will evaluate candidates for three seats on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, one seat on the Pennsylvania Superior Court, and one seat on the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court.
