Welcome to the 2012 Legislative Brief, your one-stop shop for legislative news from a variety of sources throughout West Virginia, and my view of legislative happenings on the horizon. Today marks the 45th day of the 60-day Legislative session.

Legislative Action by the Numbers:

  • 1344 bills introduced in the House
  • 674 bills introduced in the Senate
  • 9 bills have passed both chambers and have completed Legislative action

My View from the Capitol:

  • February 26th - all bills must be out of committee in the house of origin
  • February 29th - last day to consider bills on 3rd reading in house of origin other than the budget bill and supplemental appropriations
  • March 10th at midnight - Regular Session adjourns

A delegation of 13 from Steptoe & Johnson, including Gil White, are attending the NAPE Expo in Houston, together with West Virginia Secretary of Commerce, Keith Burdette and representatives of the WV Development Office, to promote WV to shale gas developers.
