Welcome to the 2012 Legislative Brief, your one-stop shop for legislative news from a variety of sources throughout West Virginia, and my view of legislative happenings on the horizon. Today marks the 52nd day of the 60-day Legislative session.
Legislative Action by the Numbers:
- 1348 bills in the House
- 676 bills in the Senate
- 18 bills have passed both chambers and have completed Legislative action
- 320 bills pending in either the House or Senate awaiting Legislative action during the next 8 days
My View from the Capitol:
Last week, the Steptoe & Johnson Energy, Environmental and Government Relations teams spent a considerable amount of time with West Virginia Commerce Secretary, Keith Burdette in Houston, Texas at NAPE. The partnering relationship of Steptoe & Johnson and the West Virginia Commerce Department demonstrates the forward-thinking mindset that distinguishes West Virginia from the crowd when national developers are evaluating where they should spend the millions of dollars necessary to develop Marcellus and Utica Shale Assets.
- Regular Session adjourns March 10th at midnight.
