Steptoe & Johnson Attorneys Appointed to Leadership Positions at the Institute for Energy Law

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Steptoe & Johnson PLLC congratulates Braden L. Christopher, Melissa A. Munson, and Diana S. Prulhiere on their recent leadership appointments for the Institute for Energy Law (IEL). The attorneys began their terms on February 27 at the conclusion of the IEL Annual Energy Law Conference in Houston, TX. They join Sharon O. Flanery on the leadership team, who was recently appointed as the Chair of the Advisory Board for IEL (read more about Flanery’s appointment).

The Institute for Energy Law was founded in 1959 and is one of the divisions of The Center for American and International Law. The membership organization provides education and professional opportunities for lawyers and other professionals in the energy industry through courses, conferences, scholarly publications, and membership activities.

Christopher has been appointed as the Vice Chair for IEL’s Oilfield & Energy Services Practice Committee. He previously served on the Advisory Board and was part of the 2024 Leadership Class. Christopher advises clients on a wide range of energy law matters, with a particular focus on energy and supply chain transactions.

Munson has been appointed as the Co-Chair for the Membership & Development Committee for IEL and will serve on the organization’s Executive Committee. She previously served as a member of the organization’s Advisory Board and was part of the 2021 Leadership Class. She is the Assistant Practice Group Leader for Steptoe & Johnson’s Energy Contracts group and focuses her practice on the acquisition, divestiture, and development of energy assets, including upstream, midstream, services, and renewables.

Prulhiere has been selected to serve as the Director for IEL’s Practice Committees and on the Executive Committee after serving in over a dozen leadership positions for the organization over the past decade. Her tenure includes ten years on the Young Energy Professionals Committee which she chaired in 2019. Her practice focuses on energy, mineral, renewables, and natural resources law, with an emphasis on title, due diligence, transactional, contract, and regulatory matters.
