Blake Jones focuses his practice in the areas of energy and mineral title law. He has extensive experience in the review of leases, title opinions, curative documents, joint operating agreements, and other documents to determine mineral title ownership. He is a former senior division order analyst for a major energy company.

Representative Experience

  • Managed due diligence project for a client in the acquisition of over 24,000 acres in the Permian Basin
  • Determined mineral ownership and calculated working interests, net revenue interests, and overriding royalty interests for wells in the Eagle Ford and Bakken shale plays
  • Drafted original drilling title opinions, supplemental title opinions, and division order title opinions for numerous exploration and production companies conducting operations in New Mexico, Ohio, and Texas
  • Drafted documents for clients in order to comply with the Ohio Dormant Mineral Act
  • Managed due diligence project for operator and non-operator co-buyers in $2.55 Billion acquisition in the Uinta basin
  • Managed due diligence project for operator and non-operator co-buyers in $1.1 Billion acquisition in the Delaware basin
  • Represented client in all aspects of due diligence for $157.5 Million acquisition in the Delaware basin
  • Represented non-operator clients at compulsory pooling hearings before the New Mexico Oil Conservation Division
