Biography

Rebecca Schrote excels at solving business disputes. As a former award-winning journalist, Rebecca knows how to navigate challenging interpersonal situations, uncover critical information, and present a compelling story on behalf of her clients. While Rebecca focuses her practice on business litigation, she also practices intellectual property transactions and litigation, financial services litigation, regulatory compliance, business formation, and energy litigation. Rebecca has represented clients across numerous industries, including banking, retail, manufacturing, energy, insurance, and construction. Her diverse legal experience gives her a valuable perspective on the best methods of solving problems for clients.

Representative Experience

  • Lead counsel for national banking institution defending against negligence, conversion, claims involving application of the Uniform Commercial Code, and other banking customer claims
  • Co-lead counsel for private educational institution protecting right to pledged trust funds in probate litigation
  • Co-lead counsel in federal court case pursuing federal and state trademark infringement and counterfeiting claims against unauthorized retailer
  • Negotiated settlement of lease dispute with holdout tenant in favor of client’s $70 million real estate development project
  • Achieved dismissal of breach of contract and negligence claims against international online retailer, national auction house, and local car dealership
  • Represented subcontractor regarding breach of contract and unjust enrichment claims against general contractor and owner of construction project
  • Drafted intellectual property licensing agreements and release agreements for trade organizations and retail businesses
  • Authored amicus brief to Supreme Court of Ohio on behalf of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce arguing in favor of renewable energy construction projects
  • Drafted operating agreements for both sole-owner and multi-member limited liability companies in Ohio
