Attorney Christopher R. Arthur, Of Counsel, has been selected to lead the Real Estate Division of the West Virginia Bar Association (WVBA).

As chair, Arthur will oversee the division’s activities.  He will also lead its involvement in shaping real estate law in West Virginia and help educate real estate attorneys about regulations under the Dodd-Frank law.  Arthur also hopes to use his position to generate interest in the Bar Association among young real estate attorneys.

Arthur joined Steptoe & Johnson earlier this year.  He practices in the areas of banking, bankruptcy, creditors' rights, real estate, commercial litigation, and commercial transactions from the firm’s office in Charleston, W.Va.  He earned his legal and undergraduate degrees from West Virginia University.

The WVBA was formed to advance the science of jurisprudence; to promote reform in the law; to facilitate the administration of justice; to uphold integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession; to encourage liberal education; and to cultivate cordial intercourse among the members of the bar.  The WVBA is the oldest legal bar in West Virginia and one of the oldest in the United States.
