Douglas Crouse Joins Firm

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Douglas Crouse has joined the Charleston office of Steptoe & Johnson. His practice will focus on energy and natural resources law. Crouse has more than a decade of experience representing energy companies in state and federal courts. 

Crouse joins Steptoe & Johnson after serving as counsel for the West Virginia Legislature for standing and joint interim committees, including the Joint Committee on Government and Finance, Legislative Services Division. In that role, he provided legal opinions and research and assisted with bill drafting. Prior to that, he practiced with a West Virginia law firm where he defended coal operators in numerous environmental matters, including Clean Water Act citizen suits, as well as administrative appeals before the West Virginia Environmental Quality Board.

Crouse is a past editorial board member for the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources. He also served in various leadership positions for Education Elevators, a mentorship program that connects West Virginia business professionals with school children to help promote learning and build confidence.

Crouse earned his law degree from Wake Forest University and bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University.
