BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Steptoe & Johnson PLLC is pleased to present the keynote webcast “Health Care Providers and the False Claims Act (FCA)” on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from Noon until 1:00.

The FCA prohibits false claims for payments from the federal government, such as claims submitted to Medicare and Medicaid, and there is no requirement of evidence of willful misconduct. This webcast, created specifically for health care providers and administrators, will cover key definitions, damages, and ways to minimize the risk of violating the FCA.

Attorneys Walter L. Williams, William E. Galeota and William D. Wilmoth will give health care providers critical information about the FCA. The attorneys will focus on:

  • The broad scope of what constitutes a “false claim”
  • The expansive meaning of “knowingly”
  • The damages permitted including civil penalties
  • Ways to avoid and minimize risk
