Steptoe & Johnson’s Alexandria Lay and Jared Underwood Named to Generation Next: 40 Under 40 Class of 2026

 

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Steptoe & Johnson PLLC is proud to announce that two attorneys from the Charleston office, Alexandria Lay and Jared Underwood, have been selected to The West Virginia State Journal’s Generation Next: 40 Under 40 Class of 2026.

Lay is a Member and the Practice Group Leader of the firm’s Energy Contracts Practice Group and focuses her practice on energy transactions. In her work, she represents coal, oil and gas, renewable energy, and utility companies in various matters, including negotiating stock and asset acquisitions and dispositions, conducting and managing large-scale due diligence projects, and advising on other operational and property matters.

Underwood is Of Counsel and represents individuals, businesses, and public entities in a wide array of litigation matters. His practice focuses on education law, employment law, insurance defense, and civil rights litigation. He defends clients in claims of negligence, discrimination, medical malpractice, and various other civil matters.

Generation Next: 40 Under 40 recognizes outstanding young professionals working in business, government, and communities throughout West Virginia. Lay, Underwood, and their fellow honorees were recognized on Tuesday, June 16, at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
