Joseph M. Negaard


As a Captain in the army national guard, Joseph Negaard knows the value of camaraderie and teamwork and employs those tactics to his clients’ benefit. In his role as in-house counsel for a major energy company he further honed his skills as a negotiator and transactional lawyer. Joe’s business experience is an added resource for his clients as he works with them to structure and finalize deals and mitigate disputes.

Representative Experience

  • Provided legal advice and services to a high-growth, fast-paced public oil and gas exploration and production company on a wide range of legal issues including corporate compliance, corporate governance, employment, procurement, litigation, and environmental compliance
  • Assisted in the negotiating and drafting of several large corporate M&A transactions, including a $130 million sale of water services subsidiary to public utility and a $120 million purchase of Marcellus shale assets
  • Lead a corporate M&A transaction of more than 300 conventional natural gas wells across seven counties in Pennsylvania and New York
  • Managed multiple dispute resolution, arbitration, including royalty claims and litigation matters assisting counsel through discovery, drafting and filing of pleadings, depositions, and trial preparation
  • Supervised third year law clinic students while providing legal advice and services to business clients the in agricultural, food, and energy sectors
