Biography
Mark brings over 20 years of experience to his litigation clients. Mark defends businesses in contract, insurance, real estate, and securities disputes. He guides business owners through settlements, mediation, arbitration, summary judgment, and trial as necessary. Mark previously served as a law clerk for the Honorable Larry A. Burns, including during Burns’ tenure as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California’s Chief Judge. He also served as an appellate clerk for the Honorable William J. Holloway Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
In addition to his practice, Mark is a frequent presenter, educator, and publisher on several legal topics and issues. He has taught classes in Civil Procedure, Remedies, and Constitutional Law at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, and has given lectures on common law and the American legal system.
Representative Experience
- Won default judgment, damages, and award of attorneys’ fees on behalf of husband and wife who were victims of defamation and obtained an order requiring the removal of defamatory material from websites
- Obtained dismissal of lawsuit against property owner by insurance company that had provided a legal defense under a reservation of rights and had settled with claimants
- Represented church in FOIA action against IRS, obtaining production of thousands of documents
- After substantial litigation, negotiated favorable settlement with state department of education to bring statewide curriculum into compliance with state and U. S. law
