Michelle K. Schaller

Biography

Michelle Schaller focuses her practice on energy litigation matters involving mineral rights and royalties and has a background in construction law, employment law, insurance coverage & defense, professional liability, and transportation law. Although she is not a native West Virginian, Michelle has made north-central West Virginia her home for over a decade and is dedicated to assisting her clients in the ever-evolving field that is energy litigation. She is motivated by easing the burden on clients caused by litigation or potential legal proceedings.

Before joining Steptoe & Johnson PLLC, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Michael J. Aloi at the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of West Virginia. She has also worked as an associate attorney at another regional defense law firm focusing on transportation and construction law.

Michelle holds a J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law, where she served as Editor-in-Chief for the Family Law Quarterly, as Associate Editor for the West Virginia Law Review Vol. 119, as a member of the Steptoe & Johnson PLLC Moot Court Team, and graduated Order of the Barristers with pro bono distinction.
