Mike Kennington Joins Steptoe & Johnson’s Woodlands Office

The Woodlands, Texas — Mike Kennington has joined The Woodlands, Texas, office of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC as Of Counsel. He joins the firm’s Litigation Department. 

“Mike’s two-plus decades of litigation experience in the energy sector, with both in-house and law firm experience, and his ability to assess exposure and perform cost-benefit analyses, will help our clients navigate litigation,” said Steptoe & Johnson CEO Christopher L. Slaughter. “He is skilled at developing strategies to minimize risk in both litigation and deal strategies with corporate litigation and transactional matters, and he has been a trusted C-Suite advisor.”

Kennington has represented companies in various types of disputes, including breach of contract, business torts, regulatory noncompliance matters, creditor rights and collections, and personal injury defense. He has handled mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures in the energy industry and often assists energy clients with due diligence, contract negotiation and administration, environmental compliance, entity selection, and business formation.  

He earned his law degree from the South Texas College of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston.
