Nationally Recognized Securities Litigation Group Joins Steptoe & Johnson’s Growing Oklahoma City Office

Oklahoma City, OK – Tara A. LaClair, Jennifer N. Lamirand, Mary “Molly” H. Tolbert, Bruce W. Day, and Aimee Majoue have joined the Oklahoma City office of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC. All five will be joining the firm’s Litigation Department with LaClair and Lamirand joining as Members, Tolbert and Day joining as Of Counsel, and Majoue joining as an Associate.

Their addition will greatly benefit our clients in Oklahoma and throughout the country.”

LaClair focuses her practice on financial services litigation and securities arbitration. Her experience includes national representation of financial institutions, brokerage firms, registered investment advisors, securities agents and individuals in customer and employment disputes, regulatory matters, and general litigation. Her experience also includes conducting internal investigations and handling regulatory proceedings before the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and state regulatory agencies. She also represents international entities, health care professionals, and church organizations in administrative forums and general business litigation matters. LaClair earned her law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law, her Master of Laws from the Georgetown University Law Center in Securities and Financial Institution Regulation, and her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University.

Lamirand’s practice includes litigation matters of all types with a primary focus on federal Indian law, tribal law, securities law, and contract law. She has experience in advising tribal nations on tribal governance matters, advising tribal nations and individuals on tribal law or federal Indian law, assisting with the drafting of tribal resolutions, ordinances, and tribal codes, and handling litigation matters in tribal, state, and federal courts. In her securities litigation practice, she has represented broker-dealers and brokers in courts and self-regulatory organization dispute resolution forums, including litigation spanning from initial pleadings through full trials. Lamirand earned her law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School, her Master of Laws from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and her bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University.

Tolbert’s practice includes representing clients in antitrust litigation, appellate matters, and securities litigation, as well as administrative and regulatory matters. She is experienced in defending class action cases and is a member of the Litigation and Antitrust sections of the American Bar Association. Tolbert earned her law degree from Yale Law School and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.

Day has a national practice in securities and health care litigation, as well as public policy matters. In his securities practice, he has represented some of the nation’s largest securities firms, as well as regional and local firms, individual securities agents, and investment advisors. He also represents health care professionals in Medicare billing and Medicare False Claims matters. Bruce also works closely with the firm’s Labor & Employment and Energy and& Natural Resources departments. He has represented clients in employment disputes and private and public offerings/financing of oil and gas ventures. As a result of his public policy and education reform efforts, he has represented charter schools and led other public education reform efforts.

Majoue has a background in commercial litigation and complex litigation matters. She also has experience in assisting clients with class action lawsuits. She earned her law degree from the Oklahoma City University School of Law, where she graduated summa cum laude and received the prestigious CALI Award for top academic performance in 10 different subjects. Majoue earned her bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s College of California.
