COLUMBUS –Michael E. Flowers, Steptoe & Johnson’s Director of Diversity and Inclusion, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Ohio Bar Medal. The Ohio Bar Medal is the Ohio State Bar Association’s highest honor and is awarded to individuals who have unselfishly given their time and talent by taking prominent leadership roles on the bench and in the organized Bar.
In addition to providing business counsel to clients as an attorney at Steptoe & Johnson for many years, Flowers has long served the firm in the Director of Diversity and Inclusion role while also being deeply involved in his community. Flowers was a member of the boards of Columbus State Community College and his alma mater, Bucknell University. He has also served as the chair of the Ohio Minority Development Financing Advisory Board, a member of the Small Business Advisory Council, and a member of the American Law Institute. Flowers is also the former chair of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association (ABA) and has been a member of the Board of Governors for the ABA, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Ohio State Bar Foundation.
Flowers was presented the award during the Ohio Bar Annual Meeting in Columbus on May 13, 2025.
