Steptoe & Johnson’s Sandra Fraley Recognized for Outstanding Contributions to Energy and Mineral Law

OKLAHOMA CITYSandra K. Fraley, a member of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC’s Energy and Natural Resources department and leader of the firm’s Land Administration practice group, has been awarded the prestigious John L. McClaugherty Award by the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation (EMLF).

The award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of energy and mineral law and to EMLF. Fraley is a leader in the oil and gas industry with more than 25 years of experience and a diverse background in managing litigation, advising on challenging legal issues, and devising solutions to fit client needs. She is a former EMLF Executive Committee Member and currently serves as a Trustee at Large on the Board.

Fraley is the fourth Steptoe & Johnson attorney to receive this recognition, reflecting the firm’s continued contribution to the energy industry. Sharon O. Flanery, Chair of the firm’s Energy & Natural Resources department was previously awarded the John L. McClaugherty Award in 2017, David Morrison was recognized in 2013, the late Russell Schetroma received the award in 2006, and Neal Pierce was the first recipient of the award in 2003.

Fraley was honored during the EMLF 46th Annual Institute, which was held June 8-10, 2025, in Nashville, TN.
