Biography

Clients appreciate that Tia Churchfield is as excited to work on their transaction as they are to complete the transaction.  Tia began her legal career as an abstractor and built a solid foundation and gaining a solid respect on the intricacies of mineral title.  From that foundation, Tia has grown into a seasoned energy transactional lawyer who enjoys the ramp up to a transaction and the feeling of accomplishment when it’s complete.   Tia uses her love of research and natural curiosity to perform due diligence for energy transactions, including those involving oil and gas exploration and production and upstream and midstream asset acquisitions and dispositions. Additionally, Tia has experience in the preparation of certified mineral title opinions, certified division order title opinions and has managed large scale diligence and title projects. Tia is an avid international traveler and enjoys immersing herself into the culture, customs, and people of her travel destinations.

Performed due diligence by assisting clients in determining the ownership of assets for multi-million dollar energy transactions
Conducted coal, oil and gas title examinations and prepared corresponding title opinions
Researched official public records detailing ownership of subject lands and engaged in curative work for energy exploration companies
