Darryl S. Lavery

Darryl Lavery has over two decades of extensive broad-based civil defense litigation, including product liability matters, personal injury litigation, professional negligence claims, and commercial property damage claims, as well as experience defending railroads. He was a former Judge for the Jefferson Circuit Court, Division Two, where he managed a docket of over 200 felony cases and over 800 civil cases involving contract law, real property law, employment and labor law, regulatory laws, and tort law.

He focuses his practice on complex litigation involving highly focused, technical subject matters including the following:

  • Pharmaceutical litigation involving decongestants, statins, and intrauterine device systems; toxic litigation involving exposure to benzene, hydrochloric acid, lead paint, asbestos, and pyrotechnics
  • Toxic tort litigation involving exposure to benzene, hydrochloric acid, lead paint, asbestos and pyrotechnics
  • Products liability litigation involving heating pads, gas valves, forklifts, latex products, spinal needles, and spinal cord stimulators
  • Mass tort litigation including a representation of an archdiocese in over 200 clergy sexual abuse cases
  • Class action cases including one that arose out of a derailment of chemical cars, and a chemical manufacturer in a hydrochloric acid leak from a damaged rail car which prompted an evacuation, shelter-in-place order, and multiple personal injury claims
