Biography

Katherine Compton is a seasoned trial lawyer who focuses her trial practice in complex commercial litigation and catastrophic injury. With her vast experience, Katherine adeptly handles intricate legal disputes such as trademark infringement, trade secret theft, franchise matters, banking disputes, corporate issues, non-compete agreements, class actions, personal injury/wrongful death cases, and various other types of commercial litigation. Throughout her career, she has successfully obtained over 50 temporary restraining orders, has skillfully managed numerous trials, and served as a partner at an esteemed AmLaw100 Law Firm. Representative Experience

  • Successfully resolved dispute brought by a health care provider seeking restraining order preventing our clients (7 midwives and nurses) from providing women’s health services in their community, in non-compete dispute brought by the health care provider
  • Conducted a two-week arbitration in a breach of franchise agreement dispute
  • Successfully obtained dismissal of lawsuit in Collin County regarding domain name ownership dispute
  • Secured a defense verdict at the conclusion of a two-week trial in Houston Federal Court in product liability case
  • Represented partnership and two partners in highly contentious dispute with heirs of third, deceased partner,  through two-week trial and appeal in Dallas district court
  • Defended IT company in breach of contract, negligence and Deceptive Trade Practices Claim in Fort Worth District Court
  • Defended large contractor in Dallas Crane Collapse case in front of Judge Bellan, County Court at Law No. 2
  • Defended large contractor in wrongful death action in front of Judge Bellan, County Court at Law No. 2
  • Prevailed in a TUFTA injunction hearing
  • Represented client in Federal Carmack Amendment Litigation
  • Lead counsel in multiparty securities fraud/defamation litigation in Dallas state court
  • Obtained permanent injunction against former employee and competitor in Corpus Christi (Nueces County District Court) in trade secrets and non-compete litigation
  • Successfully obtained temporary restraining order for corporate lessee to regain access to historical premises in downtown Dallas to finish out improvements against prominent local developer who was the new Lessor
  • Represented corporate minority shareholder in dispute with corporation and shareholders for breach of fiduciary duty and fraud
  • Represented trucking company and truck driver in two week wrongful death trial against “reptile” plaintiff’s counsel
  • Represented largest apartment management company in the United States in trademark infringement dispute
  • Defended attorney in legal malpractice litigation
  • Represented corporate client in all its litigation matters
  • Defended hotel in premises liability and respondeat superior litigation in Dallas
  • Represented The Acushnet Company against retailers and wholesalers counterfeiting Titleist Pro V1 golf balls in multi-million dollar trademark infringement lawsuits across the country
  • Represented Cartier International B.V. and Montblanc-Simplo GmbH in trademark infringement action related to counterfeit Montblanc and Cartier watches
  • Represented PRL USA Holdings, Inc. in multimillion-dollar trademark infringement lawsuit against numerous defendants for selling counterfeit Polo and Chaps shirts
  • Represented Liz Claiborne, Inc. against a Dallas-based public company in multimillion-dollar trademark infringement litigation involving alleged counterfeit Monet Jewelry – obtained temporary restraining order against all Defendants in lawsuit
  • Defended board of directors of Marketing Specialists in multimillion-dollar litigation brought by trustee of Marketing Specialists, Inc. against Mary Kay, Inc., board of directors and officers of MarketingSpecialists, Inc.
  • Defended board of directors of Horizon Pharmacies, Inc. in litigation brought by trustee of Horizon Pharmacies, Inc.
  • Represented Hitachi Data Systems Corporation in contract dispute
  • Defended AT&T Corp. in multimillion-dollar trade secret litigation
  • Handled complex class action real estate litigation related to development of141 acres in Elm Creek Subdivision in San Antonio, Texas
  • Worked with team of lawyers in antitrust Litigation brought by Kinetic Concepts, Inc. v. Hillrom, Inc. in highly publicized successful multimillion-dollar verdict
  • Successfully defended class action securities fraud litigation against public restaurant chain
  • Successfully defended class action securities fraud litigation against public computer company
  • Represented a client in highly contentious slander litigation stemming from a divorce and an adulterous relationship involving high-profile professionals
  • Handled all lawsuits and business legal matters for Peak Capital Corporation, an automobile finance corporation
